| Greetings from Pink Inc.
As the year comes to a close I wanted to share something fun with you. I went out to Palm Springs for the EDPA show – Exhibit Designers Producers Association –
Read my recap at Exhibitors Daily.
However, what I really wanted to share was my after show experience. It is about Dates! The kind you eat.
DESSERT IN THE DESERT
On the last day at lunch at EDPA in Palm Springs, Califoria, I was having a great conversation with good friends and colleagues Bonnie Bruha of Alpha Omega Exhibits, Steve Bruha of Foundation Fabricators and Jill Brookman from Exhibit Builder Magazine.
We got to the dessert portion when Jill chimed in “I am not eating dessert here, I am saving myself for a DATE SHAKE”. Intrigued, I asked “DATE SHAKE?” Jill explained – "Down the road, just east from here is a wonderful Date Farm called Shields – when you see the giant Shield, stop and get a Date Shake."
Ok, sounds good to me. With the show done and a free day, I woke up Saturday morning, checking online that Shields was indeed open early. I drove to the shield and at 9am I encountered my Date Shake and a great shake it was!
What I also discovered was a wonderful old sign with the fact that Shield’s was established in 1924. Mr. Shields was certainly in love with his dates! I also fell in love with this old time visitor’s center experience and gardens. Take a look at my photos and I will tell you that I was the lone person in the theater and I learned a lot about dates! I also took home a couple of pounds of Medjool dates and they are fresh and yummy!
So next time you are in Palm Springs – take the drive out to Indio and get that Date Shake, and don’t miss the show - Romance and Sex Life of the Date.
If you can’t make it to CA, jump online and order dates from Shields!
