Greetings from Pink Inc.

We are experiencing a melting and blending effect of the Art world and our Tension Fabric world.  From new products to newly inspired events in far away lands, artists and designers are pushing the envelope and creating designs and environments that challenge the norm.
Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto transformed the NYC Armory using hundreds of yards of translucent fabric.  He created a gigantic canopy – 120 ‘ x 180’ from which aromatic “fabric stalactites” descended 60 feet to embrace a vast labyrinth of passageways and rooms. It was GREAT to see!
“And across the world, artists from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan are exhibiting at the Venice Biennale 2009, and our client used the traditional burkha as the inspirational for her sculptural designs.”.

Pink Inc. ProJEct Spotlight
VENICE BIENNALE

We are thrilled to collaborate with Zolaykha Sherzad on her “break-out” Burkha project featured in the Venice Biennale 2009.  An Afghan born architect by trade, Sherzad investigates the role of the burkha in Afghan women’s lives using filmy textile work to create a shelter and tent.  As a factory owner employing women in Kabul, Sherzad experienced the “unveiling” of proud women each day in her factory and was inspired to tell their story through this rich and interesting design.  Pink Inc. was proud to support her idea with materials and concepts donated to her cause.  Be sure to take a look at her finished product at Venice Biennale 2009 sponsored by Turquoise Mountain.

Pink Inc. ProDUCT Spotlight

This constant evolution of products and designs is what makes our industry so exciting.  At Pink Inc. we are always finding new ways to work with our partners.  The latest technology to collaborate with our designs is SpotlessLight.  It is essentially, in layman’s terms, a spotlight with no spill.  We have taken this great new look and used it with our signature Hourglass Diva for an amazingly cool affect!  Our divas have traveled to Germany, Las Vegas and more recently, we enhanced the ambiance of a pre-ballet, “No-spill” cocktail party in NYC.  Consider the combination for any event that requires that added special something!

A word WITH Debra

After more than 30 years in this business, I am still inspired daily by our industry.  From Ernesto to Zolaykha, to my own design group and our latest virtual adventures, I am always in awe of the growth.  And I am humbled to be part of it.

We have been nominated for an ISES Big Apple Award in the category of Best Rental Product for our work on The Coves, originally designed for Nautica.  We will be supplying décor to the event and stage set design at the Chelsea Pier in NYC.  Hope to see you there! Wish us luck!

Another place to see us is at the Mermaid Parade on Coney Island on June 21st.  This is an annual event for us and it is so much fun – bring the family and enjoy a great day!

And don’t forget, you are always invited to our Thursday open house TGIT – we’d love to see you and chat!  And remember, social networks are a great way to stay connected – be visible  - I’ll meet you there!
