Greetings from Pink Inc.

September is the time to begin the new year.

Happy New Year!  For as long as I could remember the closing of the summer and beginning the new season is the Happy New Year! With the beginning of school and the Jewish New Year, the fall always seemed a new time – the harvest and the autumn colors and excitement of the cool air!

This year, more then ever I greet it with gusto! I look forward for the challenge of work we continue to partake in. Bring it on!

FABRIC STRUCTURES IN BOSTON

I had a great experience in Boston. I went to college there and was involved in the Fort Point Channel and Gallery East art scene back then. Duane Lucia, ran the gallery (http://galleryeastboston.com/) and is now involved in community experiences and history. Duane invited me to participate in the West End Children’s Festival this August, to put up fabric sculptures and also work with a community team for the installation.

As an aside: Historically the West End was a large section on Boston – it was torn down in Urban development in the 60’s to create City Hall – Govt. Plaza. - http://www.westendchildrensfestival.org/

I was glad to go onto the field so I could return to Boston and have the experience. Afterall it WAS summertime and everyone should be outside.  We began our install on Friday and I immediately knew I was happy to be outside working, thinking on my feet, and creating visual environments with fabric structures. The festival environment really came to life as we added each fabric sculpture. The community members that I was working with were of all ages, and it was a great day creating tensile installations with folks that have never done anything like this and will always remember participating.

Take a look of the stream of photos that Duane Lucia took.
Enjoy some of my photos as well!

Duane shared Drew Stone’s video from the day HERE

PINK INC. PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT
OUTSIDE LANDS FISH

The Beautiful Fish that we made for Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival producers, Superfly commissioned us to build 6 – 10 ‘ long lantern looking Fish to be hung in the trees. The printed bodies show great detail and the internal lighting creates mystery in the evening.

Ouside Lands concert at Golden Gate park in San Francisco included the Dave Mathews Band, Pearl Jam and my favorite guest Tom Jones! There were 3-days of music including bands called Incubus,
 Q-Tip,
 The Dodos,
Black Eyed Peas,
Bat For Lashes, The Dirtbombs,
Band of Horses,
Heartless Bastards & Cage The Elephant
just to name a few that I had never heard of before!

Beautiful weather was in store for all concertgoers and the fish were suspended in trees for beautiful effect!
